Optical Illusions

Optical illusions- the beginning of the game

Misconception and misinterpretation are two aspects or ideas of the same coin. It is also an illusion of some sorts. Illusions are basically misjudgments which force us to take wrong decisions and make wrong perceptions. Wrong decisions and misjudgments often force us to commit fatal errors which would be very difficult to correct. Hence the entire concept of illusion is basically a misjudgment or

miscalculation. We might have several kinds of illusions from time to time depending on the type of surroundings in which we live. Hence it would be completely naïve to assume that an illusion can be of a single type; there can be many illusions. Some are more common than the others while some are very rare. Illusions are part and parcel of our daily lives and hence we can never stay away from illusion!

What is an optical illusion?
An optical illusion is a misconception or misjudgment which is perceived by our eyes. Our eyes get it wrong and we think differently and interpret it in a completely different manner. The interpretations differ from person to person and hence our illusory perceptions differ from the other person. Hence we must never assume our illusions as the most typical form of illusions which one can ever get.

The human eye is just like a machine which processes information and more precisely it processes data which is present visually in front of us. The visual data is processed in various manners which would involve conversion of the image into a higher degree which would be read by the brain. Our eyes are mere scanning devices and the scanning devices help in estimating the surroundings. Man is highly influenced by his surroundings and there are certain typical optical illusions which affect us. We get things wrong and we see things differently only due to this reason. The whole world of optical illusions is immensely large. There are a hell lot of possibilities and the possibilities force us to have a wide perception about our illusory world.

Hallucinations should never be confused with optical illusions since hallucinations are mere images which are created by the brain due to certain chemical imbalances in the body. Hallucinations are completely imaginary and it is certain that a person having hallucinations would never see a real object in his visions. It would be something which is fictitious but perceived with the real eye. The real eye is something which is a combination of the mind and the biological eye. Both of them combine to produce sensory perceptions which would be real as well as highly detailed. Optical illusions occur mainly due to one important reason.

Our 2 dimensional and three dimensional perceptions are completely different and the 3 D world is not properly perceived by the 2 D retina. The simple reason is that the projection of the three dimensional world is not properly done on the two dimensional retina. Hence the problems arise due to this perception. The eyes cannot accommodate the big world in such a small space and hence come the optical illusions; it is more of a biological phenomenon. Biological phenomena should not be confused with any magic or trick since magic and tricks are mere optical illusions. Optical illusions are often used by magicians and special effects people to produce scenes which would be highly appreciated by the normal audience. The normal audience would definitely fall for it since these tricks are pleasing for the eyes under any circumstances. Hence it has been accepted a s an accepted norm of tricks and stunt men. Films and advertisements rely upon optical illusions since these illusions would give the necessary looks.
